New York Jets had coach Robert Saleh suggested Tuesday that there has been no movement on the Haason Reddick contract front.
According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, Saleh said there is “nothing new” to report on Reddick, which puts the veteran pass-rusher very much in jeopardy of missing the Jets’ 2024 regular-season opener against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.
Per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, Saleh added that he has not personally spoken to Reddick since before training camp.

The Jets acquired Reddick in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason, but he has not reported to the team and is holding out for a new contract.
Per ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Reddick requested a trade last month, but the Jets responded with a statement, saying they “will not trade him.”
Reddick who will turn 30 on Sept. 22, played the best football of his seven-year NFL career with the Eagles over the past two seasons.
After recording 12.5 sacks in his final season with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 and 11 sacks in his only campaign with the Carolina Panthers in 2021, Reddick established himself as one of the league’s best edge rushers in 2022.
Making his debut for an Eagles team that reached the Super Bowl, Reddick finished with a career-high 16 sacks and led the NFL with five forced fumbles, resulting in his first Pro Bowl selection, a spot on the All-Pro Second Team and a fourth-place finish in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting.
Reddick’s numbers weren’t quite as strong last season, but he still secured a second consecutive Pro Bowl nod by virtue of his fourth straight double-digit sack season with 11.

With Reddick set to enter the final season of a three-year, $45 million contract he signed in 2022, the Eagles traded him to the Jets for a conditional 2026 third-round draft pick.
That came after the Eagles signed pass-rusher Bryce Huff to a three-year deal in free agency. Coincidentally, Huff spent his first four NFL seasons with the Jets and had a career-high 10 sacks last season.
The acquisition of Reddick was meant to soften the blow of Huff’s departure, but with Reddick still away from the team, all signs point toward the Jets starting the 2024 season without him.
Assuming Reddick does not play Monday against the Niners, the Jets will rely on a pair of recent first-round picks to provide pressure on 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy off the edge.
Leading the way is 2022 first-round pick Jermaine Johnson II, who broke out in his second season with 55 tackles, 7.5 sacks and seven passes defended in 2023, earning him a Pro Bowl selection.
The Jets also figure to lean heavily on 2023 first-round pick Will McDonald IV, who had three sacks as a rookie last season in a situational role.
New York will also expect plenty of pass-rushing production out of two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, who has 33 sacks over five NFL seasons, including a career-high 12 in 2022.
