Pieter Heemeryck was one of the stars of the season during an action packed 2023, as the Belgian quietly put together an incredible string of performances.

Finishing the year at PTO World #5, Heemeryck also took home the IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship title in 2023 and consistently proved himself to be one of the best athletes in the sport.

Looking back on a breakthrough season, Heemeryck told TRI247 that being able to succeed for his family filled him with pride, given their unwavering support through the highs and lows of his career.

“Their support has been instrumental”

Despite picking up podiums in Germany, Singapore, Belgium and Portugal last year, Heemeryck said the one race that really stood out was his European title in Estonia.

“Reflecting on the past year, I am filled with a great sense of satisfaction. Each race brought its own unique challenges and rewards, but the European Championship 70.3 in Tallinn stands out as a particularly memorable moment.”

The 34-year-old said that taking home his maiden European title, in the presence of his family, was what made the race so meaningful.

“Winning my first European title was a significant milestone in my career, made even more special by the presence of my family. Their support has been instrumental in my journey, and to share this victory with them was one of my best experiences.”
